The latest in my Classic Hollywood Series I started this series a long time ago and sold most back then. I have a couple of larger ones still stored away. I am now continuing the series.
It's nice to have a change of pace sometimes and explore a different subject matter. But I do love old movies. I grew up on black and while thrillers and Love stories. I've been re-watching my favorites. These days you can see so many of them for free on YouTube. Not the best quality. But Netflix and Amazon prime have many. The best ones are still available on DVD's or for rent.
Whatever it is about these movies and actors there is a certain mystery I guess. The black and white made for a different experience where light became a big player in creating drama, atmosphere and suspense. There were no "special effects" and not even color. Many of these actors came straight from the silent movies, where there wasn't even sound. So there was a huge emphasis on facial expression and body language. I think that is where these movies and actors really shined. Especially Joan Crawford, watch her in "Sudden Fear" her eyes and her face just great.
Well I painted the one and only among others "Joan Crawford" the love to hate persona, but boy she was a great actress and nobody is all bad. She did have a good heart. I was surprised to read she was only 5 foot 3 inches tall.
