Sunset Heron in the land of Lotus Flowers

I was inspired to paint this from my excursions in the the wetlands of South Georgia also known as the Okefenokee.

Land of the trembling waters. Where Herons soar and Lotus bloom. Where the sun creates magic and sparkle atop the dark mysterious waters. A land untamed by human hands, filled with the aroma of tannic water, sounds of unseen live. As my canoe glides along the watery path the lily pads and water grasses dance in the ripples. A heron flies up and out of sight.

This is an original oil painting. It sparkles with jewel colors. Deep orange and yellow with magenta and Indian yellow glazes. Blue highlights set off the warm colors. The painting is simply amazing in person. Painted with brush and palette knife rich in texture. In the great tradition of french impressionism.

The dimensions are  36 inches tall and 24 inches wide (91.4  x 61 Centimeters)

The sides are 1.5 inches deep and painted black.

Celebrating the 100th anniversary of our National Parks Service in 2016. America's National Parks are a rich heritage of some of the best nature has to offer. From the majestic high mountain ranges, to the silent, still waters, or raging rivers, to the long trails, lines the ancient trees, all non human witnesses of the history of this land, we stand in awe of them.

They are the places where animals roam, billions of strings in nature that weave us together, to something that is unseen but we do feel it when we are there, in the presence of that, which can not be defined in words.
Million of people enjoy our National Parks every day. Souls are restored and spirits are lifted as only nature can do. We are so lucky to have our National Parks.
The Okefenokee also known as "Land of the trembling Water"
a somewhat lose translation from the Creek the indigenous Indians that once called this place their home.
